Flash a brighter smile this winter: iWhite O2 Teeth Whitening Kit

Posted : 23rd November 2011

I’ve been sent the iWhite teeth whitening kit a while ago, but due to my dental misfortunes i didn’t get around to see it in action. To be fair, i didn’t see it in action at all on my teeth as my dentist almost hit me in the head with the box when he heard what i wanna do. Well after two root canals and two crowns, plus my gum problems…yeah i could see how teeth whitening wasn’t really a priority.

So Himself, had to sacrifice for science purposes…Yeah right, he wanted to use it since he saw it in the mail box! We are such a vain couple :D .

iWhite Oxygen Activated Teeth Whitening Kit

The box contains a mouth tray and 14 whitening foam strips.

And how it looks just before you place it in your mouth:

How to use iWhite

After you fixed the strips in the mouth tray, place it in your mouth and wait for 20 minutes. The whole treatment is for just 7 days.

Review

First of all, himself is a smoker (disgusting i know) and he never ever used a whitening kit so it kinda makes him an ideal candidate. During the 7 days, it didn’t cause any sort of teeth sensitivity and it was easy to use. The mouth guard was relatively comfortable, but he had to be careful because of his gag reflex. So if there are sensitive people out there regarding this aspect, take note.

Result wise, it definitely brighten his teeth. Now im not saying that is that fake white smile, but i can notice a difference for sure. I would totally recommend iWhite as a brightening quick fix before a big event, but if you need major whitening i would still go to a dental clinic for a professional treatment.

How i got a bright smile :)

Posted : 30th March 2011

If you see a girl in Dublin grinning like an eejit…don’t worry is just me, showing off my new white smile! I was tweeting all day yesterday about my laser whitening, you can follow me on twitter too if you fancy a chat.

Getting laser teeth whitening is something that i wanted to do for a long time, but i was putting it off because of the high price (up to 350 euro). When i moved up to Dublin, i joined the discount sites www.citydeals.com and www.livingsocial.com which are brilliant, every day i get emailed at least two offers from each, with a huge selection varying from restaurant deals to manicures, hotels, gyms and yes, teeth whitening.

I bought a voucher from White Smile clinic for a laser whitening session, it was 89 euro down from 280 euro (in february was 280, now is discounted to 199 euro plus a free top up). For me, this was very reasonable.

So, bought my deal, made the appointment for the Ballsbridge clinic in D4 and off i went to get a bright smile. The actual location consists in a room/office in a typical Georgian house, very simple decorated with a desk for the dental practitioner, the bed with the laser and a sink. I was expecting a classic dental clinic to be honest, but i suppose if you are only doing teeth whitening, you don’t need much else.

The lady who looked after me was lovely and very competent, she explained everything and was very gentle and attentive in general. I’m just very sorry i haven’t remembered her name, i was just dizzy with the excitement.

After an overall check of my mouth and routine questions, the practitioner matched my actual tooth shade and then showed me what i was suppose to expect (for my before and after). A cheek retractor was placed in my mouth to protect my lips and keep my mouth open (i was looking very sexy) and protective googles. Then a protective wax was applyed to my gums and the whitening gel, shortly after. Just a dash of vaseline on the lips and i was ready to go.

The laser treatment consisted in 3 sessions of 12 minutes, when i had to not move and let the products work. I hadn’t had any pain whatsoever during it, just a slight pain on my lower teeth in the last 40 seconds of my 3rd cycle.

At the end, i just took everything out and rinse my mouth with water. I was amazed how well it looked! I am pleased that they don’t look fake, i mean they don’t glow in the dark :) but are still noticeably whiter and brighter.

Off i went, with directions to not eat staining foods for 24H and warned that some sensitivity might occur. And boy it did! I had sharp shots of pain for several hours, mainly in my lower teeth and massive swollen top lip, think rabbit lip. Nevertheless, i was able to function and eat in the afternoon (the laser was done in the morning) after taking some Nurofen and using some Carmex.

The next day, my lip looked normal, just a bit sensitive in the inside to hot drinks and i had no pain in my teeth. Hurahhh!!!

I will honestly recommend taking the plunge, it made a huge difference to me even if i had very little stain to begin with. The lipstick looks better, the tan is enhanced and it just looks more healthy.

Before you are wondering, I am not affiliated or sponsored by White Smile Clinic, bought my voucher myself (with money!) and its my honest review.

Gift time with Marie Claire and Glamour Magazine

Posted : 8th March 2010

Happy Monday everybody!

This weekend i got a very nice surprise with Glamour and Marie Claire magazines, they are giving away Neal`s Yard Power Berry Daily Moisturiser (Marie Claire) and James Brown Scandalous Moisturising Conditioner (Glamour). The products are a decent size and certainly value more then the price of the magazine, so definitely is worth to check them out.

March magazines

Havent used either of the products before, so this are the descriptions got from the packaging and first impressions after one use:

Neal Yard Power Berry Daily Moisturiser

“Boosts radiance and protects, helps fight the effects of free radicals for a brighter, dewy-looking skin. Main ingredients are antioxidant rich acai, bilberry and goji berry”. This moisturiser its a new adition to the Neal Yard skincare, you`ll find a mask and a cleanser with the same properties and active ingredients. It is a natural based range of products, free of mineral oils, preservatives, silicons, phthalates (haven’t a clue what they are),synthetic color and fragrance free. If your looking to purchase the moisturiser on its own, it comes in a handy 100ml pump dispenser, retailing at 22 pounds (i don’t know the price in euro, got the information from the Neal Yard UK website).

First impressions, after one use: very light fresh texture, easily absorbed into the skin (i was afraid its going to be some sort of ointment, don’t know why) with a fresh berry scent. The only inconvenient – no SPF. For this reason I’m going to use it mainly at night time, instead of a night moisturiser.

James Brown Scandalous Moisturising Conditioner

This conditioner is part from the new Scandalous range from James Brown, with murumuru butter (?!) and pro-vitamin B5 for a nourished, glossy hair. I have used it after shampooing with Lush Cynthia Sylvia., applying it on mid lenght avoiding the hair roots as per instructions. It is a good nourishing conditioner, it detangles and doesn’t flatten the hair (at least mine). The scent is nice too, but i wouldn’t describe it as “turning heads”.

Overall, I`m a happy camper :) .

Hello world!

Posted : 11th February 2010

Hi guys!

Just got myself a fancy new pink blog, where I can pour my latest rants about beauty, makeup and everything pretty. I liked my previous one too (glamourousbeauty.wordpress.com), but because I couldn’t change much in the appearance of it and didn’t really like the name, i choose to create a new one.

As you can see below, i just copyed some of my posts from the other blog as  I got many views on them and they are pretty recent.

I am committed to write more often, as i started to enjoy it. I will try to write at least two posts a week about different products that I like/don’t like and just share my opinions with the world. Also the blog is a pretty good excuse for me to try more products and to shop, shop, shop! Sometimes I believe “Confessions of a Shopaholic” was written about me :) .

Anyhoo, feel free to ask reviews, opinions and leave comments.

Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in my posts are honest and reflect my personal experience with the products. I am not affiliated with any cosmetic company and I am not paid for writing any reviews. The products presented were bought with my money, if I happen to receive any products from a company I will state it in my blog post.
